ESA Foundation Opens Grant Application

Grants Support Tech-Based Youth Programs

March 1, 2016 – WASHINGTON, DC – The ESA Foundation announced today that it is accepting applications for its 2017 grantee cycle through Monday, May 2, 2016. The grants are available to charitable and nonprofit organizations that leverage entertainment software and technology to create meaningful opportunities for America’s youth.

“Over the last 15 years, ESA Foundation has awarded more than 114 grants to 59 different organizations that are working to improve the lives of kids,” said Rich Taylor, senior vice president of Communications and Industry at ESA, which represents the U.S. video game industry. “We are proud to support these innovative organizations that are harnessing the power of video games to transform the way young people develop new skills and broaden their horizons.”

ESA Foundation supports organizations that benefit American boys and girls between the ages of seven and 18. Prospective grantees should foster youth development and education through engagements with computer and video games.

Previous grantees’ projects have ranged from developing online games to help children with cancer understand and follow their treatment programs, to creating educational and interactive exhibits for Smithsonian Institution museums.

Eligible organizations have until May 2, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. EDT to submit an application for projects to be implemented in 2017. First-time awardees can receive grants of up to $50,000. For more information or to apply for an ESA Foundation grant, visit
